FilmBath
Adding to the richness and diversity of Bath's cultural offerings, is FilmBath, the heart and home of the film world in Bath. Each year, the city's residents and visitors experience the thrills, spills and delights of the FilmBath Festival together with a wide range of film-related activities and opportunities for people to engage.
FilmBath's mission is to champion and showcase diversity on screen and behind the camera to as widely inclusive an audience as possible, and to inspire exhibitors to programme more diverse films both in the UK and beyond.
As an umbrella organisation, FilmBath has six constituent parts:
Each year the FilmBath Festival (previously Bath Film Festival) screens the best new and upcoming films from around the world with a stimulating and eclectic programme of films, workshops, and film events in venues across Bath and beyond. In 2020, they successfully took over Green Park Station for five nights to screen nine wonderful films - read more on our blog.
AMPLIFY! was an online film festival produced by FilmBath in collaboration with CINECITY (Brighton), Cambridge, and Cornwall Film Festivals. It blasted brilliant new cinema into audience’s front rooms from 6–22 November 2020, beaming feature films, shorts, and industry events directly to viewers wherever they were in the UK.
The F-Rating champions women in the industry by highlighting films directed by, written by, and starring women with a Fairtrade-type stamp.
The IMDb Awards support and reward emerging talent with the Script to Screen Award and the New Filmmaker Award.
The FilmClub runs monthly screenings of festival-type films at the divine Walcot House, situated in the heart of the city on Walcot Street.
The Pop-up Screenings show a range of special events — such as Sally Potter’s rough cut of The Party back in 2017 — and popular films in brilliant locations.
